Wild Cherry Bar AKA NY Bar. was open today. There were two female bartenders and one man sitting at the bar, I think he was staff. There were around 24 bar stools bellyed up yo the long bar on the right as you enter. There were 3 snall flat screen TVs behind and above the bar, May be more to come?

I also stopped at th e Presidente and ask about the News Cafe. They said it was not to reopen. There will be a lunch type soda opening, Monday, on the Second floor.

I walked by there today and thought they were still working on it. Lots of others simply walked by. Perhaps a sign saying open would be in order.

Thanks Tim, but the DJ might not like that idea. We could definitely play quieter than what I heard Friday night.

Mid afternoon on a Sunday, the bar tenders were sitting on the elevated porch which made the place look very inviting. I went in and they immediately met me inside the bar and showed me around. No one was in the bar.

It looks nice inside but to me the outside is too garish.

I decided to go in last night, Sunday night, about 8 pm maybe. The music was still louder than I like it but not quite as ear splitting as Friday night. There might have been 10 customers there. There were two or three bartenders, a security guy, a DJ and three girls I would describe as dancers. Obviously the employee to customer ratio was high.

The old bar in the middle approach is gone and the bar is along the south wall. One of the bartenders was Carla formerly of the Del Rey/Key Largo. The dancers were reasonably attractive, but nothing to write home about. They were fully clothed. They danced on the bar, which has poles and some other bars the girls can do gymnastic moves if they are so inclined. The music was mostly standard Latin music you hear everywhere.

What I have been told is that the bar is an attempt to recreate the atmosphere of some move I haven't seen called 'Coyote Ugly.' The owner has deep pockets, I'm told, and owns a lot of the 2 x 1 pizza places.

Most of the gringos I have talked to aren't impressed. There were no working girls inside and the dancers kept their clothes on. So, other than stare at the bartenders there wasn't much to do. Conversation was a bit difficult due to the loud music. I don't see any reason to return, personally. Maybe there's a market for this but I couldn't tell you who that might be. I wish him well but I do wonder about the business plan.
