What's a newbie friendly online motorcycle community?

I've never ridden a motorcycle before, and I'm interested in learning about sport bikes and I'm looking for a website that has images, forums, and info that won't wreck my brain trying to decipher.

A site that offers tips for first time riders, how to buy a bike, and gets more advanced/is still useful after you've gotten your first bike.

This one here is of course for Tucson, AZ, but go to - http://www.meetup.com/ and see if there is a Freewheelers group in your city or area.

They are a no BS, no hassle, no dues, no monthly meetings, etc kind of place. The Freewheelers here, Tucson, have rides every weekend but also accept non-rider enthusiasts. They also are bike make and model blind and IF you ride, the only requirements are your safe, some what sane, follow driving laws for your area and your ride is up to highway standards and size enuf to keep up.

You are a tool and shouldn't speak for Jap cruisers ever again. If I wanted a Harley I would have spent $15,000 on a bike. I wanted to ride so I spent $1,000 on a Honda, and have the other $14,000 for gas and trips.

For your question, I would use either of the links below. They have been really decent to me, and the first one I just found today poking around. There is southern biker magazine as well, a good online publication that lists a ton of events all over the southeast. The VFRD link I added is a site dedicated to the Honda VFR interceptor. They seem to be decent as well. Tons of information on all of these sites, and they are just some of the few I have run across so far looking. Hope this helps.

Almost all of them treat new guys like crap. Motorcycle guys can be d*cks. The worst ones are the ones for Japanese Cruisers. Those guys automatically have an attitude because they know they are Harley wannabeeze. The Harley D*cks treat them like crap so they are always poised and ready to jump all over a new guy with little experience.

The guys on the Sport-bike forums are generally more friendly and helpful, but you are always going to run in to the dick who tries to make you feel like an idiot for asking a very basic question about motorcycles.


I would just act like you are experienced. Ask intelligent questions.

Think of a brand, model or type of riding you think you might be interested in. Search for a forum that matches your interest and lurk there a while. you will quickly see if the forum matches your interest.
