Personally, I didn't dig it at all.

I love El Pueblo. I usually eat at Lucas steak house. Then if I'm there with first time visitors we take a walk around the shopping stores behind. After that it's a short walk or a cab ride over to the Casino Europa in the Radisson.

I was there fairly late (1am-2am) on a Friday night and it was hopping. Pretty much locals for the most part - didn't see many tourists. There are all kinds of lively night spots with lots of live music. Wish I had had more energy at the time - could have been fun.

If you're 19 and you like the kind of places where the music is so loud that you can't hear yourself think... and the strobe lights flash so brightly that you get instant migraines... then El Pueblo might be the place for you.

I have no idea how you can pick up a chick if you can't even talk to her... other than just play the numbers game.

On the upside, like GetRhythm said... some of the clubs in El Pueblo were hopping with a good ratio of girl-to-guys. And some fan-fucking-tastic go-go dancers.

But again... a very young crowd, with some occasional horney old gringos thrown in. Personally, I like to be able to chat 'em up, and I couldn't do that at El Pueblo.

Mi amigo y yo, had the Garlic salsa at Lucas' and had the sh!ts for two days. :twisted: It wasn't pretty, as soon as I got up from the table my stomach started turning. Within 30 mins after eating I had to go 3 times. I left my entire meal in Lucas' bathroom. Talk about purge your system.

Later that night mi amigo picks up this chica at KL and walks back to prez. While he is signing her in, he gets the urge and bolts for the bathroom on 2nd level. He couldn't wait anf after the smell I was generating, he didn't want to do it in his room. Can you imagine what the chica would've done? It hit him in a split second.

I won't go back.

I concur. I haven't liked El Pueblo since the Club Infinito closed a few years ago. That was an awesome club, with two or three different
areas/sections with different types of music.

In my opinion, Lukas (note spelling) is a great restaurant. It is one of my
favorites in CR. I highly recommend it. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that the music from the adjacent clubs can be a little loud late at night. I've never had a problem with the 'runs'/diarrhea.

El Pueblo is mostly for locals. It is a big complex of night clubs.

Although the characterization of El Pueblo as being for 19 year olds who like ear-popping music and strobe lights is partly correct, it's not just for the K*ds. There is hidden gold in some of the smaller clubs. Take some time to explore, because it is a genuine Costa Rica nightspot, not a tourist trap.

You might hear live Andean music, Argentine Tango by sultry originals from the 60s, salsa, mambo, every style native to Central and South America, depending on what club and what night.

It is about a mile north of central San Jose, probably a bit less as the crow flies. It is just north of the arroyo that passes through the center of San Jose, and is near the an 18th century church, la Iglesia de San Francisco, which would be worth seeing in the daytime.

You can see the Holiday Inn and other downtown landmarks easily from El Pueblo, so you should know exactly where you are, even at night. Ask your cab driver to quote you a fixed fare before you get in the cab. It will depend a lot on what side of downtown you are starting from, and what time of day, since the traffic would be murder if you are on the wrong side of Avenida Central at midday.

I stopped there on my first trip the 1 club we went into was very loud with all the lights drank a beer and off we went. There is a place across the street from el pubelo not sure of the name . Might want to try that place out
