Not really... the system energy travels on is being studied and it appears there is a second neural system that regulates the system as a whole. A recent discovery implies extracellular matrix dictates the funtion of cells. A mamory gland will not secrete milk out of it's extracellular matrix. A liver cell will not function out side of it's matrix. Could be the Cranial Sacral System is a control center for these types of function. The fascia that surrounds the brain and spinal chord continues till the end of all nerves and vessals.... then blends and melds with the connective tissue. The connective tissue fascia is acting like a big ol electrical information highway somewhat seperate from the nerve roots. Explaining trigger point referal and reflex effects. Now they don't have to follow the nerves.... just the fascia. The combination of Connective tissue and extracellular matrix could very easily explain the energy flow we sense as well as meridians and chakras, which are gathered areas of high piezo electric charges and CT.

A nerve will not regenerate if the inner layer of connective tissue surrounding the nerve, 2nd nervous system if you will, is seperated. However if a piece of that CT is in place the extracellular matrix turns on embriotic dormant cells and they recreate the nerve.... or can theoritically.
Stem cell research.

I recently read a report where pigs extracelular matrix was placed on a severed finger tip and the tip regenerated under the influence of the ECM. Finger nail, nerves, bones, veins and all. Where scar tissue and healing processes would have shut it down and sealed it up.... like scars do. With the ECM applied there was a cell growth environment with connectice tissue availibilty creating regeneration. Now that my friends is Spoooooooky.

In addtion... I can sense where things are around me due to propriocetive reach outside my body.... If that can reach outside of my body and sense distance and people no reason why that would not react to others proprioceptive reach. In fact our very survival would require infomation outside our sight and hearing be gathered. We need to sense danger or saftey. We need to sense that bear creepin up on us you know? Makes sense the term we call bonding is a melding of this field between lovers over time. With the 2 feilds combined they can be a healing energy or a very toxic enrgy where no healing can possibly occur. If it's not part of the gross nervous system, but a more eloquint whole body information system.... there you have it. t023 :woohoo: Energy flow and healing dictated by a system of primal cellular function. That responds to our emotional state....maybe even with colors :shock: ..... and can spill onto others.

I guess I am saying its like someone "rubbing off" on you. Some folks don't notice, some just brush it off, some need a shower. Heh. But it's tangable and real in my world. Your "beliefs" of that "ruboff" dictates how you feel about it and respond to it.

So often Orthopedic workers get the "left brain only" eforum.xxx and energy workers get the "airy fairy" eforum.xxx. Its the same system in my mind. Why we insist on pointing out differences instead of similarities intrigues me.

I agree. Being adopted, I grew up weighing the nature vs. nurture debate and concluded pretty early on that BOTH have an affect. To try to divide them is silly (except in the most extremely unbalanced cases, I suppose). I extended this to many supposed "differences" I observed and that helped put me on the path to see everything as part of a whole and to seek to be compassionate towards the various "parts."

Hence my similar stance on all things possibly affecting ones "energy transfer" sensitivity. My former social-worker friend wasn't taught about it but experienced it anyway as it affected her health. I don't know how many who are made aware of energy and possible transfer adopt a fearful stance, hopefully not many. It shouldn't be about fear, simply awareness.

The biggest factor to me seems to be just that: being aware that energy exists in everything and from there you can start becoming aware of and managing your own energy, and then come to understand how to better interact with the energy around you. (I hear matter is apparently made of waves which are made of energy or motion; see: http://www.glafreniere.com/matter.htm and http://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=227963&page=3 ... but really, I know next to nothing about physics, etc.)

"Seforum.xxxe Saging" ... I like that. Certainly something I shy away from when I detect it, which is one reason why I haven't watched TV in years. In my various experiences over the years I recall a nutrition teacher (who sounded mostly on-target to me) authoritatively cite a "fact" about something that I had recently read in-depth about and "knew" was untrue (I forget what now). It can be tricky for even the experienced student to know what's what and which parts of instruction to trust. Human indeed.

I'm not usually "one with the froo", but I thought I'd chime in on this one.

I remember my very first clinic experiance in school. We had learned about picking up things, shaking off things, yadda yadda in class...and normally I'd roll my eyes at these things.

First clinic, I walk out to meet the client and instantly felt trapped...and had some difficulty breathing. That was the most difficult session to date. I did exactly what I was asking, but there was no pleasing her. Very snooty gal and I was losing before I ever started.

I mainly have gotten this "pickup" from people that are used to being spoiled and pampered at more spa type places. They walk in expecting something and they don't get that from me...at all.

I try not to deal with people like this anymore. They aren't any good for me and I'm not any good for them.

Hi Nola,

I'd love to have the links to some of the recent studies you've cited. Fascinating discussion you've all been having too.

In the years prior to going into bodywork, I was able to
sometimes see, feel/sense energy myself, which is why I became interested in reading about it. Tribal societies used it for centuries as part of their shamanistic type of healings.
(way before the scientific world came along to prove what was already known to them)

Certainly Acupuncture, Reiki & Jin Shin Jyutsu all work on the energetic levels which impact the physical body. If any of you have ever read about martial arts, and the specific
strike points (many of which can also be used for healing work), a number of them are used to either take someone down, or to block the energy flow into an arm or other region, rendering them temporarily unable to move.

For those of you who have the ability to "sense" the energetics of a place, be it a sacred site, or somewhere that has been the location of violence, fear, etc. what you
"pick-up" in these places, to me, is like an imprint in time & space as though the events which took place are somehow
recorded electro-magnetically perhaps. It seems to leave a trace of an echo-like piece of those who were there before.
Much like what we find in the faschia tissues as a result of the physical history of the body, or the mental/emotional
scarring left behind due to both physical & non-physical trauma.

I'm sure you've all had the experience of walking into a place where you felt a sense of peace & serenity, as well as other places that seemed heavy & dark, and wanted to leave there quickly. Some people seem to carry that type of energy around with them, and when they come into your life as friends, family or clients, you may have felt uplifted or pulled down by spending time with them. You may have felt the "fractured" or "chaotic" energy of someone who is in
someway mentally disturbed, and found it difficult to be in the same space with that individual.

Whatever your experiences, so long as they don't freak you out it's all fine & can be part of fine tuning your abilities to work with energetic healing & sensing. For those who've
had scary experiences with it, or continually felt drained in those encounters there are a wide range of books and classes on the subject to better understand how to work with it, depending on ones personal comfort zone.

Humans can regrow fingers?

When a hobby-store owner in Cincinnati sliced off his fingertip in 2005 while showing a customer why the motor on his model plane was dangerous, he went to the emergency room without the missing tip. He couldn't find it anywhere. The doctor bandaged the wound and recommended a skin graft to cover the top of his right-middle stub for cosmetic purposes, since nothing could be done to rebuild the finger.
Months later, he had regrown it, tissue, nerves, skin, fingernail and all.
This particular hobbyist happened to have a brother in the tissue-regeneration business, who told him to forego the skin graft and instead apply a powdered extract taken from pig's bladder to the raw finger tip. The extract, called extracellular matrix, lays the framework that cells use to generate any given body part. It's like a cellular smassageplanetfolding, and all animals have it. It holds the signals that direct cells to divide, differentiate and build themselves into a specific form.
Extracellular matrix is a component of body tissue that functions outside of the body's cells (thus the "extracellular" designation). It's made up mostly of collagen, a type of protein. So extracellular matrix extracted from the bladder of a pig does not actually have any of the pig's cells in it.
In human fetuses, the substance works in concert with stem cells to grow and regrow everything from heart aortas to toes. Fetuses can regrow almost anything that gets damaged while in the womb. Scientists have long believed that when a fetus reaches full development, this extracellular matrix stops functioning. But with evidence that applying extracellular matrix from a pig can initiate certain types of regeneration in humans, they're wondering if they can trigger human extracellular matrix to start working again. After all, according to regeneration researcher Dr. Stephen Badylak of the University of Pittsburgh, children up to the age of two have been known to regrow fingertips with no outside help.
Pig-extracted extracellular matrix is already used by veterinarians to help horses repair torn ligaments. In people, it's used to treat ulcers, closing a hole in the tissue that lines the stomach. It employs an entirely different process than the typical mammalian healing mechanism. Let's take the case of a person who loses the tip of a finger. When the finger is severed, the cells die, and their contents seep into the surrounding tissue. This alerts the immune system to a problem. The immune system's response to cell death is inflammation and scar tissue. The formation of scar tissue prevents any future cellular development in the area. That's why scars last -- cells are prevented from doing a repair job on that skin.
But when extracellular matrix is applied to a wound, it doesn't trigger an immune response. Instead, when it begins to break down into surrounding tissue, it causes the cells in that tissue to start repairing the damage the way they would in a developing fetus (or a salamander that loses a limb) -- they divide and rebuild, creating new, normal tissue, not scar tissue.
Combined with developments in stem-cell research, this extracellular matrix may work miracles in the area of regeneration science. As of early 2007, testing of the effects of extracellular matrix is being carried out on a military base in Texas. Scientists are using the powdered pig extract on Iraq War veterans whose hands were damaged in the war. They're opening the wounds and applying the component to finger stubs in an attempt to regrow them. The researchers conducting the study say they don't expect to regrow the entire finger, but are hoping to regrow enough of a finger to allow for some utility. They don't believe it will regenerate bone, but nothing is for sure right now. That man in Cincinnati had only lost his finger tip, at the lower part of the nail; he hadn't lost the entire finger.
Help from pigs aside, many wonder if the extracellular matrix in humans is unable to function or is simply in a latent state, awaiting some sort of trigger. Do humans in fact have the same regenerative capacity as salamanders, which can regrow an entire limb, and researchers just haven't found a way to activate the mechanism? It's not just amphibians that can regrow body parts: Deer regularly regrow lost antlers, composed of bone, tissue, cartilage and skin -- the same things that make up human limbs. Could there possibly be an internal switch that would reactivate the regeneration capacity that humans possess in the womb? Regenerative medicine is actively pursuing answers to these questions. And in the meantime, if applying powdered pig extract to a snipped finger can in fact facilitate regrowth, the possibilities for medicine are startling. Spinal injuries, amputated limbs and damaged organs could all be coaxed back into a complete, healthy state if science finds the right combination of treatments.
