I knew the prices-ish before I came last time, not from a forum, from a friend who had been here before.

It gives me a smile sat at a bar watching a girl asking for a 1K bar fine and the guy peeling it off a wad of notes, they are almost salivating......Jackpot.

No problem for me. I know a girl who has agreements with certain beach front hotels who splits the joiner fee with the security guy............He asks for 3K. Amazing how many people pay it and then get hit again my the receptionist...........and pay it again! Doh!

Pay the girl 5K and that's 4 other customers she doesn't need to hassle for the time being. Good for her, she can chill out for a bit and do a bit of shopping.

I can only assimilate a story of my Daughter in NY and the hot dog vendor asking her for $10 for whatever she had bought when it's value was $2 I can't remember. She was about to pay when a passerby intervened and played merry hell with the vendor for trying to rip her off. Good for him. I'd like to shake his hand and smack the vendor in the chops.

I guess we are the 'passerbys', we can only mention how much things are but if you are asked for a certain amount and are willing to pay it, so be it. Up to you as they say.

There are threads on here about the cost of living in Thailand, OK, my petrol has gone up, it has everywhere. My ciggies are cheaper (Changed brand) eating out isn't that more expensive than when I ate out years ago.

However, having a girl ask me for 1K BF and 5K LT no matter how drunk I was, would make me smile, say no thank you politely and move on.

Thanks mate. I was teetering on the edge of heading to PI for a play. And that was all I needed to push me over the edge. Just tacked 10 days in PI on the end of the next LOS sojurn in a few weeks time.

Yes, and no…

Expats are very likely to be hooked into a LT relationship or marriage, so you are not likely going to see them trawling beer bars, gogos, pool halls, discos etc. picking up the “usual types” that occasional visitors (assuming the OP in this case) would be wanting to hear about. If at all, maybe something a little more discreet like a massage place, or, even better, flying out of town.

LT stayers and single expats operate in a different league than occasional visitors simply because they are here for… well, a long time. Not “better” league, but just different. Most I know that P4P will generally have a stable of “regulars” rotating in and out of the SIM card. Also, there is a degree of familiarity built up with the girls as the LT stayer is more likely to be seen out more (plus the girls quickly pick up on the fact that he is a LT stayer based on body, and subsequently, spoken language). In general, I would say that LT stayers, (and people that visit often or have been visiting for many years) get better (and therefore different) rates for things that are negotiable than an occasional visitor.

The reality is that YOU are the best type of BM to answer the questions posed by the OP, and you did a pretty good job, except that I think your ST/LT rates were 500 baht short on either end if we are talking about mean averages for the P4P population taken as a whole.

Furthermore, a lot of BM’s don’t want to address the OP’s questions because:

1. They may get called an overpayer or cheap Charlie.

2. They have already given several responses/posts already in different threads.

3. The questions are really vague and you really could write a small novel on the subject (did you hear that JayBee? ).

4. They are bored to death with the subject and/or it is apparent that the OP didn’t do any “research”.
