Just out of interest are these 'strip clubs' and RLD worth a pop.....as they are near by.....if bored one day/evening and not visiting an FKK

Actually one other question..if the quality and quantity is low during day but you get full day pass anyway when is the best time to go....I could sit and watch beautiful naked ladies all day in between sessions so could go for 12 hrs lol but is there a better time to go?

There can be some decent hotel deals if you scout around. Previously I have stayed in The Bristol Hotel and The Continental, neither of which were too expensive if booked online and are very close to the station.

There are some dodgy bastards hanging round the RLD, but like the previous poster says, it's a fairly small area, only a couple of blocks. I got some hassle from the touts outside some of the strip clubs but a firm "nein" got them off my back. Besides, there are some decent pubs in the area. I love the Thai pub.

You are making a HUGE mistake, and mischarterisation, of the Hbf area of Frankfurt. It is specifically the "Bahnhof Viertel" RLD area, which is two blocks away in one direction from the station itself, that is seedy and the subject of these "bad/scary reviews" and only this specfic two block stretch. Go out of either the North or South Entrance to the station, however, and you will be presented with a completely benign urban enviornment featuring some of the best Hotel deals to be had in town. For example, diagonally out of the North Entrance of the station is the 4-star Savoy hotel, which offers weekend deals of as low as 42E/night! Or the Excelsior right across the N Entrance, 52E/night. So don't exaggerate the seediness, or you will miss out on the easiest and best place to stay in town...

Some clarification: Bad Homburg, actually, is more convient than Friedricksdorf, but also slightly more expensive. I myself, if I were to S-bahn and taxi it, would get off at the earlier stop, i.e. Bad Homburg. This is a much larger settlement than Friedricksdorf and taxis at B.H. are always waiting just outside the S-bahn main entrance. If you don't mind paying, say 6-10Es more, go from B.H. for sure.
