New to this - booked indian head massage course

Hi there

As I am new to all of this type of thing and have just booked myself on an indian head massage course in June - wanted to know if all of you who've done a course in this subject have enjoyed it?

Have you been able to go out into the real world and earn yourself some money doing IHM?

What would be the normal charge for a session and how many of you do it mobile?

Hiya

Yes I have done the VTCT course in this and loved it - I find that I prefer giving this treatment to any other. It was lovely receiving one as well in College and a lot of my clients prefer this treatment as well.

As for prices, thats up to you - look around to see how much is being charged for 30 min treatments and base it around there.

I'd like to try and take this up into business but not really sure how to go about it at the moment - need to research into this.

I currently run my own business from home but I'd like to take up IHM in businesses in the city - go to them to give the massage - similar to on site massage I suppose.

I also did an examinable course in IHM and it is great! I use a lot of it at taster evenings, pamper parties etc, if someone wants to book one in my clinic it is £20 for 30mins and that includes the facial.

It does seem to be popular plus people keep their clothes on so will probably feel more comfortable about it.

What are the overall benefits of IHM. Can you overdo it?

Oh no you cant overdo relaxation!!! it relieves superficial tension at the back, arms, neck, makes you feel just superb on the head and relaxed and then the facial just tops it off....

I agree too that you can't overdo it - I simply can't get enough of it and love the head massage - I always fall asleep and find the therapist slighlty struggling to keep my head upright to finish me off........

I really enjoy giving this as well as receiving it too.

Hi Is this what you really want,

Stanmore college should do this course else I know for a fact that Barnet college do this - go to www.barnet.ac.uk and they should tell you more abt it - its for 10 weeks but you should have done your A&P, and body massage before hand.

I think Harrow college do it as well.

Why do some people end up feeling ill, and sometimes for more than 1 day. I've also heard that some peole feel dizzy as well. Does it have something to do with their nerves or circulation?

Hi Deb379,

Some people experience feelings of illness following an IHM treatment because of the release of toxins from their bodies caused by the treatment. This is some times referred to as 'a healing crisis'. Other names for this occurrence are 'an aggravation' and a 'contra action'.

It is not compulsory for people to experience this and, if they do, it is not usually after every treatment.

The effects can vary from flu-like symptoms to aching, headaches, joint pain, etc in any combination and could last for between 1 and 7 days. There are reported incidences of the effects lasting several months, although I think that the effects have got confused with the appearance of another condition that happened to present itself following treatment.

IHM is an energy therapy and if the energy in the client is stirred up - just like the silt in a river that is being dredged - it takes time to settle into a clearer and healthier result.

People tend to expect the 'magic bullet' effect created by modern-day medicine - a tablet that brings instant relief. They do not expect the mildly upsetting (to them) effects of the gentle clearing that a holistic energy treatment can produce.

You will learn all about this in your course.

Paul has pretty much covered it...it sounds a bit drastic but try not to worry about it too much...always ensure your client knows to drink water etc...also with the dizziness thing if this is when they first stand up after the treatment it could be their blood pressure is slightly on the low side.....

Thanks for your comments. It's just that a friend had told me her friend felt unwell, and I think I saw someone's comments about the dizziness on a forum somewhere. Just wanted to try and understand a little more about it.

Would this happen in a normal body massage then?
