hotels always protecting their own business - means sometimes they are not allow entruders to come - they push you to use their own girls from premises saunas, massage centres, bars, etc. So case by case- they might not let you in.

alternatevely pick up a worker in Bourbon and ask her to go to her place- it can be a good experience (normally safe but...)- crowded chinese building, small rooms, house full of junk, smell of rice cooking, sleeping sister on the sofa, just a water pipe as a shower- very romantic...

May, you should go to Bourbon Street, there are a couple of girls available.
In view of the 11.00 pm clause, you should not afraid too much. Usually, all hotels are flexible if you take only 1 girl with you. I am not very experienced ,which hotel in Shanghai is girlfriendly, because I stay every time in the Gui Du "Hotel Equatorial" or HILTON.

first, you will never be sure to protected against rip offs, but you can limit the risk ! The area of Nanjing lu(road) and Tong Ren Lu is very known for girls which are installed to ask for drinks and to accelerate you to drink faster, but if you go there you can find really pretty girls. Please check before if you have a ladyboy or an real girl, at tong ren lu some transes are working. I like to go to Heng Shan Lu, there you wil find a couple of bars and disco´s where you can meet girls for all tastes. Take care, never go with people which offer you girls on street and tell you you could have the best sex of your live, you will loose all your money there and could have trouble with police.

I am proud: This is my first post in the mpnet

Next week I'll stay for some days in the Radisson hotel in 88 Nanjing Road (W). It will be my second trip to China and I did read a lot about ripoffs in the Nanjing Area here in the mpnet.

Are there any interesting and good places in walking distance to Nanjing? Any tips and hints are highly appreciated
