Massages: no. of back to back in one day

Could you please let me know how many massages (full body) you can do back to back in one day. And how much time you give yourself before the next massage.

It depends if you're Employed, Self Employed, Mobile or working in a Spar/Clinic/Salon.

In my situation the target is 5-6 massages in a day, or 25 in a week. But I've never had a day of just full body massages because I offer a range of treatments with 30 minute back, neck & shoulders being the most common.

If I were to do mostly Hot/Cold stone treatments then the turn around time becomes a major factor. But again it depends where you work and if there's other staff to help clean and prep.

I have the luxury of working for myself both in a clinic and mobile. However, I have experience of working in therapy centres, (and still do work in one, just one day a week) and also spas. In my own clinic I try to avoid doing more than 5 treatments a day. At the centre, I will sometimes see 4 people over 4 hours - I don't like it, as it doesn't give me much time - 50 minutes on the couch, with allowance made for changeover - I always feel rushed! In my own clinic, I allow at least 40 minutes between clients to do paperwork, change the linen and prepare!

I have never done more than three a day, because I offer other treatments and always try to alternate therapies if I can.

I allow half an hour between clients, they never seem to want to go and this is an area I am having to become stricter on, as I know I need to clean the room, pepare for another client and have a drink/bite to eat/ use the toilet/check the phone/ prepare myself for what i am doing, mentally and paperwork wise.
I used to allow 15 mins but this was not enough for me, 30 mins gives me the space i need and works well, unless someone is late and now I do not run over but take this time as part of their allocation, if they are late, it is a shame but i will not keep another client waiting due to this. Set yourself a time and have at least two clocks in the room so you are aware of the time constraints, this makes the day flow better.

The question you should ask yourself is "does my last client of the week receive the same quality of care, attention and support that the first one did?". If the answer is not a resounding and unequivocal YES, then you are doing too many - no matter what the number is.

And I agree with the comments about leaving time between sessions - essential.

The maximum I do is 4. It used to be 5 but now I've reduced it down to 4. I try to leave 15-30min in between clients. On the days I do mobile visits, the maximum is 3 in a day.
