Ideal type of heating for treatment room?

Firstly, I haven't a clue where to put this post so i hope no one is mad at me!!!

Well, I'm looking for some type of heating for my room that is reasonable to run....
my room is a converted garage attached to the side of the house (previously a play room and all done properly to building regulations so is insulated)!
I have been using my portable calor gas fire, but it's been playing up and I think it's on it's way out!
We do have a radiator in the room but I don't want to heat the whole house just for one room as there is only 3 of us in the house and we are rarely in together, so I don't know what to buy for the best....
one of those halogen heaters would have been fab but they are so bright they light up the room too much so not suitable for the atmosphere of a treatment room.
Any ideas please, what does every one else use and does it cost a fortune to run?
What about a oil filled radiator? are they expensive to use?

sounds very much like my room aswell, I use a thermostatically controlled hot air heater fixed to the wall, conveniently the garage/play room had a supply box in it.
Personally wouldnt use a naked gas flame of any sort, too risky.
if you look on the argos website I am sure you will find a suitable heater with a pull switch on/off.

I use an oil filled radiator, and have it on a timer switch so it is only on when I need it. I find it is very economical. I bought one that was recommended for the area (square metres) I have to heat. I also have a little fan heater which takes the chill off very quickly first thing in the morning, but is switched off well in advance of any treatments.

Hi Susan,

My treatment room is a converted garden shed (with good insulation). I use a thermostatic convector heater which I bought from Argos about 7 years ago. It has a timer, so I set that for about 15min before I need the room and I've found it to be quite economical to use.

I use heaters to heat the room and for extra warmth I have an electric blanket on the couch.

The room is just right for me to work and the client keeps nice and warm.

Hi Susan

Turn your other radiators off or put
thermostat valves on, that way you will only heat what you need.

Remember health and safety/gas and electric regulations when you use cabled and/or Mobile Heaters

I use an Oil filled radiator too, I have quite a big treatment room, but this heats it up sufficiently, and also once it's warm, I can turn it down and it maintains a decent heat. It is also quiet, so no noisy fans blowing when your trying to create a peaceful atmosphere.

I think I will go for the oil filled radiator when I can afford - the central heating boiler broke this week and no signs of either fixing it or getting a new one which is probably what we need as money is very tight at the minute...oh well, at least one room will be warm this winter....the treatment room!!!

My Husband has just bought an oil filled heater and a single electric blanket that heats up in 10 mins for his treatment room now that the colder weather is approaching quickly.
