I currently reside south of the border, and this afternoon Craigslist removed Therapeutic Services and all dating/companionship sections as a result of the current US bill HR 1865 being past. BP is currently shutdown throughout the US, and as I understand, Canada as well. This has providers and clients scrambling to figure out new directions and resources, and it will create economic problems for many within the industry. Sadly....

Craigslist was targeted before, hence the section was changed to "Therapeutic" many years ago after that killer killed the call girl. There is Duttslist too but need more advertising there to get the traffic Back page has. Also Leolist. Maybe more Kijiji ads now?

In the States, there is TER and Erotic Monkey for review sites, but they don't work very well for the small specialty providers and casual independents who use it to supplement their income, or provide their income. BP and Craigs are the backbone of the industry, especially for independents. I feel sorry for the people most affected, as their revenue stream will almost immediately diminish. There are only so many regulars out there. As welldone states, perhaps Dutts and Leo will step up, but their current formats are weak, so hopefully they can provide a reasonably priced alternative for the providers, and an understandable, straight forward format for the clients. It remains to be seen how the Canadian government will proceed in light of the situation in the states. Hopefully they are slow to respond.

My guess is that message boards like CAF and MP will continue to exist as they aren't really a commercial enterprise. They have ads, but that pays to support site so that we can belong without fees.

That's not to say that they won't be monitored by LE, but I believe they would only be looking for links to underage operators, and child trafficking cases that they are working on.

The reality is that from an LE perspective the internet is the best thing that could have happened in regards to pay for sex. 10 years ago 118 ave had girls on every corner, sometimes even a block in south or north. I travel in on occasion and streetwalkers are rare, almost none existent. Stony Plain road is the same. So the local neighborhoods are no longer having to witness girls working the streets, johns cruising , condoms in their back yards, etc. For all intents and purposes these areas have been "cleaned up", mostly due to the internet, not LE. I don't imagine LE or civic government want to go back to the old days. When they are forced to get involved is when violence or a propety crime occurs visa a connection made though the Backpages of the world. If Backpage is truly gone, something else will come along.

Caf is small enough to stay low and avoid trouble. Plus it’s a forum. The FBI has been after these guys that own BP for awhile now

CAF makes more money then required to run the site ! I was one of the first members of his site and I can still remember him saying "ads will always be free" NOW running this forumn does require finances to maintain it and upgrade, but he's doing ok. He will also be getting an influx of members because of this. As you can NOT view ads or content without being a member. However, what he hasn't done is do an age verification process. Many forumns in the states have this process to obtain access to the content.

BP verse the Streets - lets get real. While that could happen for the 10% of ladies who started on the street and went inside. These ladies have been a sore spot in many of our lives due to their reduced rates. The good news however, is that because of their bad service, poor customer relation skills and lack of any understanding of human decency, they will go back where they came from.

How about BP and the Asians - NOW that's a problem. The dominated the listings. I'm scared for them. My heart aches for the prospect of what solutions that industry will come up with.

On BP you could find 100 rates up to 400 - 500 rates. It was a place for everyone to thrive. The ladies who run their business with ethics and strong customer service skills, used bp as one tool but it wasn't their ONLY tool.

The Street walker who went inside, I would take every one of them and put them through bootcamp for hookers and TEACH them the skills, give them confidence and show them there is a better way then to rip off a guest, give poor service, or grab and dash. But this is another story completely.

Craigslist - I just looked, it is still listing therapeutic, but I dont suspect it will be long before its gone too.

Reports online are saying - EROS will be shutting down. NOW this affects the $300 + ladies in a HUGE way, and will impact the industry at higher levels. Why, because the clients that seek out this price range are ones with more power then the chef or mechanic most clients are in the 100k or under income. $300+ $400+ $500+ ladies, that the 150K and over income earners will sort it out faster. they will pocket their ladies, they will hunt for solutions faster then the norm $100 lady will ever get. Its privilege verses the marginalized worker.

There is nothing to celebrate over this and I believe we are on the brink of going back to black site chat rooms (can't remember what their called off the top of my head). When having a website that picked up google searches was GREAT. Being listed on the first 1 - 3 pages of any search engine was the way I got my clients. BEST thing ever !! Many ladies dropped their websites because the advertising platforms did what they needed.

Duttlist and Leolist are both hosted in Canada. If Duttlist generates more income from their advertising, they will likely do an upgrade modification.

We wont go back to the dark ages, but change has happened and adjustments are occurring.

What I was suggesting was not that the streetwalkers moved to BP, but that the availability and easy access to better quality providers on BP basically dried up the market for street corner gals. Back in the old days the streetwalkers were the quickest, easiest, and most affordable route for many guys. Sure there were escort agencies in the classifieds and yellow pages, but the rates were exhorborant. The streets were riskier, but cheap and quick. The internet changed that and ironically was not as readily available to many drug addled streetwalkers as many did not have ready access due to their situation.

street walkers DID move inside. they got an increase in income, along with a warm work environment. they could be more selective but didn't/dont know any better to be kind to their guests. they single handedly reduced rates because many clients DONT care who is sucking their dicks. Its all about rate. slowly forcing many to reduce rates to feed our families. ALL this started when review boards started, when street walkers were tired of LE hassling them. they went inside.

Backpage offered every level of worker a way to connect to their clients. In one full swoop its gone. the dilemma is what does the industry look like moving forward.

Will the Street walkers go back on the street.
Will agencies become the norm
Will rates increase to what they use to be
Will the mp model get their clientele back.

Many un-answered questions only time will tell.

Independent ladies diversify their advertising, it wont affect them the same as a lady who solely used bp. But the power is NOT in the hands of the clients like it has been due to the internet and the vast available to a wide selection of ladies. IMO

Sadly the therapeutic section of Craigslist is now overwhelmed with ads by providers that have nothing to do with actual massage. It was nice when you had a fighting chance of finding a legit RMT on Craigslist, but this is the unintended consequence of shutting down BP. Unfortunately, now the attention will be focused on the therapeutic section of Craigslist and it will be the next casualty of the morally superior.

I wouldn’t say that at all. Yah, we’ve had a couple of ad’s. Some solicited like Janelle’s and some not but with all the crickets chirp’n and one sentence reviews lately on my his forum, an occasional lady offering her services is a nice addition.
With BP gone, CL overwhelmed with the Asian AMP’s and micro Ad’s, and Kijiji simply boring; us simple massage aficianato’s have limited options of where to source out the next ‘gem’.
Yes, there is a fear this can get out of control and lead to the demise of MP, but for now, I’m ok with the occasional independent chimes my in with their Ad. Especially if they are are a contributor to our discussions, as Janelle is!

I don't see it becoming a big problem. Sure, it's free but it takes daily work to keep your ad from getting buried in all the threads.

I used to follow CAF regularly and posted regularly as well. It has guidlines and mods to police the advertising still some providers advertise within the reviews themselves. I dont subscribe to branding tactics hence make a conscious effort not to contribute to their coppers. That being said I can't fault the people who do. It's smart marketing. Each to their own.

From my experience stateside, I would suggest you keep track of your providers contact information. CL will probably soon shut down the therapeutic and personal sections so that they can keep the site alive. As previously stated, this has already happened in the states. Small independent home based providers have almost nowhere to go for advertising, so they will have to hope they have some regulars to provide some income. Expect to get some texts from those that you have seen, just to let you know they are still around.
