All the ones I've used here in PI, where I've stayed at Pacific Breeze or The Walkabout, have been spotlessly clean.

I understand it, if you're referring to a jacuzzi that doesn't get drained & cleaned mpter each use, like the one I had in Patts on the rooftop at the SwissFood Hotel.:grrrrrr:

DIK, I'll give you a hint (which you probably know already, with you being a well travelled man:wink2
I often half fill the jacuzzi before heading out for the night, as some of the fcukers take ages to fill.

Fair enough! I know you have given SEA a fair bash and not one for making a rash decision (Cough! 55555) and settling down in the first place you visit. I must admit to holding my breath during your 'Penang' phase!

Similar tale with me. I had visited most of the countries around SEA in my murky past, either in an 'official' capacity or my post Army travels with mates.

Out of all the places I visited, the only one that gave me the "Hey! I could live here" factor was Thailand and that was actually Bangkok!

Plus, as you say Thailand is a good central-ish base to get out to other places relatively cheaply as and when the 'urge' desires. :whistle:

I think my time at the Hobbit House in Makita (Sp!) watching a dwarf Elvis singing 'Old Shep' and playing dwarf skittles (It had to be done!) and giving the US Shore patrol the run-a-round in Subic was enough for a while........That doesn't mean I won't go again, there's other places I want to spend my money on exploring before I cover old territory.

Plus I've got three PI Cuties here with me in mpghanistan right now! Bargain!

PS Anyone know if Hobbit House is still going! Or even allowed!!! :wink2:

A lot has been said about the ABC hotel Angeles and questions have been asked regarding whether or not it is 'relevant' considering the reasons people visit Angeles, as it is 'costly'.

Firstly, value for money, I have yet to find its equal in Asia. I stayed there in total for 15 days and that consisted of 7 nights in a poolside suite and 8 nights in a standard room.
The standard rooms are NOT small, they are as big as Ive ever stayed in for the price.
I am a total convert to this hotel and will not stay anywhere else. I will change my visit dates rather than do so.
Facilities are second to none, stmpf are attentive polite and Reviewiendly as well as professional. Management is sueforum.xxxly low key and efficient.
The training of the stmpf has been exceptional IMHO and nothing is too much to ask. I was having my room made up at least 3 times a day and it was always done within an hour.
Restaurant and snack charges are extortionate, drink and eat elsewhere is my advice and your budget will not be exploded.
Eg: A brewed coffee at Kokomos 40p at ABC 245p,
My total bill for the 15 nights was 72000bht which equates to 4800 per night.
If I had stayed in a standard room that would have been reduced to 53000bht which equates to 3600 per night. Still expensive I know but value and comfort is exceptional.
A true party animal hotel which should not be overlooked unless you are on a really tight budget.
Stay a day or 2 and feel the difference.
I was offered Reviewee accommodation at the Lewis Grand but, declined as I felt the fun factor worth paying for.

Up to you as they say.. just dont dismiss it.
