I have noticed the sudden drop in activity on the forum after the initial euphoria in December. I hope no one else has contracted the dreaded disease.
My take is simple. SBs should be off the list. Yes there are more unhygienic places in India like someone pointed out on this forum. But some areas are unavoidable (like a crowded marketplace ,public transport etc). An SB is easily avoidable.
There are no guarantees in this world. Its all about managing probability. Avoid places that you can avoid. Reduce risk. Boost your immunity. Wash your hands at regular intervals. Use soap for 20 seconds at least while washing your hands. Keep a sanitizer handy. Leave the rest to God.

Wanted to get your opinion on choice of hotel room for 2-3 nights between: ROCG & F Select Exo. (or some other range 3-4k per night)

I have the following criteria in mind:

good quality rooms + bed, clean toilets, quality breakfast, proximity to decent restaurants (or maybe the in-hotel restaurant itself is good) and last but not least (and the reason I am posting here and not on tripAd): proximity to Spa's and DB/OB. For Spa, DB and OB: preference is to quality and cleanliness/hygiene rather than quantity. I don't like hopping and would prefer laying back and enjoying.

Sorry, if its too much to ask - but aiming for the stars

Hello fellow "GenitalMan",

I have never stayed at the Fortune Select Exotica, hence can't comment on the quality of it's rooms. Location wise, it is close to a few OBs like Heaven6, Champagne and MH-43 lounge (which will reportedly soon have an OB section). A couple of DBs are also close by like Kapal and Sadguru (quality wise: low-end). There are a ton of restaurant/lounge/brewpub options in and around Satara Plaza which is not very far from this hotel.

Yogi Executive is another alternative to ROCG in the budget you have quoted. BlueStar and Baba Palace DBs are within a few minutes walk. Rasna, Ramesh, Sairat, Sangeet are within 3 minutes Autorickshaw ride, although they may not meet your "quality" criteria. Plus there are a few decent restaurants as well within walking distance like Bhagat Tarachand / Nanumal Bhojraj if your are vegetarian or Mansoor Bhai's Lucky and Vashi Gomantak if you prefer non-vegetarian food. The food at the in-house restaurant is also pretty good. The rooms are a little dated... ROCG is better in that respect in my opinion. The breakfast buffet is also better at ROCG as compared to Yogi Executive in terms of variety and quality of options.

ROCG has been discussed recently on this thread. i don't have much to add except to note that if you like Mughlai food, Shalimar restaurant is within walking distance of ROCG. The food there comes from the chain's central kitchen. The best time to enjoy fresh biryanies/curries/kebabs is around 12:30 for lunch and around 8pm for dinner. Just an FYI - if you decide to try it.

Please avoid IBIS if you are smoker all rooms are non smoking zone. Ek bar book kiya tha aur gf chain smoker hai aur mai non smoker kuch ja ma nahi, gf ko kick nahi baithi to gfe nahi mila. Smoke karana hai to smoking zone ground floor pe hai. Take care before booking
