...In the US there was this magnificent bitter beer called Guiness (if I recall the name correctly). I didn't drink it much then. But for some reason now I have a strong craving for bitter beers.
I haven't seen too many bitter beers in India. Guiness too is not to be found here....
While I have not seen Guinness ("Irish Red Ale") served in any bar in India, there are 2 pubs/microbreweries in Lower Parel that have similar products:
- White Owl Brewer serves Diablo, which is an Irish Red.
- TOIT Mumbai serves an Irish Red named TOIT Red.
I could not find any Irish Reds in any of the Navi Mumbai pubs/microbreweries like Royal Oak, TBSE or Doolally. Doolally does serve a few bitter microbeers like English Bitter, Brut IPA, Smoked Porter and English Brown Ale. They are quite distinct in taste from Guinness.
