Bar girl behavior

So, this is probably being asked because of my newbness, but here it goes...

Met a girl in Tiger. Hit it off great. Fun, great energy. Cute smile (besides being hot). BF her eventually after a few lady drinks. LT changed to ST after she had to go hang out with her "friend" from Spain. I was like, whatever. Figured it was a dude. She says "Tomorrow I take you out. We have pizza." Ok. Again, whatever. But I made a promise to myself last year that I would have a good time on NYE...so after a good night (even with her jetting at 5am) I decided she was my date for NYE.

NYE (next night), after hanging at MTB for a bit, I head back over. Turns out "friend from Spain" is actually an old BG who is now engaged to a Spanish bloke. I get the feeling this time though that I am being fleeced for LD's (I know, I know. I mean, wouldn't you try to get as much as you could from the rich farang?). Pay her BF after 1am (It's 1000baht before 1 am...no thank you). She does indeed buy me pizza. We go back to my hotel. She says something about buying me a gift the next day while we're eating. I'm like "ok" (slightly confused by the offer). But again she's like "I'm solly, I can't stay long." At this point I am annoyed, since she didn't mention that before the BF. I decided at that point, it would be the last time I saw her.

Fast forward two days. I am eating dinner in my hotel. Halfway through dinner, I turn around to see two girls in the lobby. Then I realize it's the girl and her friend. I am more than a little surprised. She comes up and says "I not see you. I said I would get you gift." and she proceeds to hand me something she bought at Robinsons.

Now, I find this completely confusing and have no idea what to make of it. Genuine gift? Devious way to get farang ATM to come back to her bar? I have no clue if it is typical BG behavior, some elaborate BG ruse, or out of the ordinary? T

My advice is always dont read too much into this sort of thing - just relax and go with the flow. You already overguessed at the spanish 'friend' and she has actively come to look for you - i would think she is interested otherwise why bother?

It is all about giving something nicely wrapped, rather than what is given. Gifts from Thai people tend to be cute or maybe practical, but straightforward rather than having any hidden meaning.

It looks like she likes you, and is flirting a bit. She obviously has a bit of her own life, which is healthy. Don't be too cynical, test the waters a bit more if you are interested, but don't lunge in too deep too quick..... or move on if you aren't.
