Yea for sure would never catch me in bathing mode in Patong spec when we have so many nice beaches round the island.
And I have found that everywhere thats its easier to dump your sh@te in the ocean than to actually do much with it ...

I live up on Hasip Pee Road(high up on the hill behind Patong)and after a deluge of rain a murky band 2-300 metres wide can be seen clinging to the shore of Patong beach afterwards.

Best to not swim anywhere in the storm water runoff. :info:

Especially Patong.

Can always get a good idea from my apartment as to whether i go to the beach or use the pool.

Surin and Kata Noi seem to have the cleanest water most of the time.:great:

To me it is the smell of money. The higher the risk of H2S (or any other gas) exposure .... the more money I make.

The smell does'nt really bother me that much. If I can smell it than I have'nt drunk enough. Drink more and no more smell. Easy

Having much rain this past September on my visit to Patong now seems like a blessing from what I have read here. I really did not notice any smell except for maybe when right next to the drains.

Hopefully the water throwing of Songkran will have the same positive effect on things. :intello:

I think after a while you get used to it.

I actually try not to walk over the drains and you actually get into the habit of just holding your breath if you have to step over one; it is all in the timing.

Some bits might no smell nice but you have to just keep looking at the beautiful women.

I dunno, i seem to always notice some huge piles of trash at the roadside - i do see the rubbish truck fairly regularly but they need to do it at least daily....or the bar owners need to take their trash out in time.

Garbage truck pulls down Bangla Road every evening around 3am. Obviously they can't keep pulling down the street every couple of hours but it would be nice if we could have a better area to dump our garbage.

Unfortunately Patong is not set up for it!

I'm used to all those street sewer smells, I grew up in Chicago.

Atleast Pattaya is trying to do something about their sewer, they've replaced their sewer and waterlines 3 times...

I've got to agree... it sure does stink as you walk down Bangla Rd. but it's no worse than when I was in China... Every 100 mtrs the outdoor toilets were enough to make you retch.

I often see the garbage truck early evenings and then again late night, when bars close we carry out the trash. So in the morning the night's trash is already gone. It used to be a lot worse, but since they stepped up security they clean alot more.

after ringing the bell @3 am @MTB my uncle calmly walked over to Bangla Road ducked his head behind a tarp for a minute came up whipping his mouth and a look on his face like who's buying the next round made me realize how times a night this might happen???? i think i solved the BANGLA SMELL question
