Way back when, I worked with a gal who used the Bach Flower remedies as an adjunct to her massage practice. She always used the 'rescue remedy' & many other times used whatever she felt was prescribed (and offered it to her clients to purchase, etc.) So, yes, I've tried them personally, as her 'trade client'. I felt they were wonderful. I have used rescue remedy in my dogs' drinking water in times of crisis too. Read up on it, its quite a lovely thing.Jill/Sagetherapist

Hi Jill,Here are some sites that will help you on your journey into the wonderful world of flower essences if you have not explored them already:www.bachcentre.comwww.bachessences.com(Sorry it did not make a direct link).  On the bachcenter site it gives the history info on Dr Bach etc.  on the bachessences site you have more info on the 38 remedies and also how you can apply their use.These work very well on negative emotional states and can enhance energy work.  I personally always keep rescue remedy in my pocketbook - comes in very handy when you have children (especially boys!  )Enjoy!

The use of flower essences on a regular basis is both fascinating and can truly play a role in your wellness and I mean that seriously.  But I'd save my money on the Rescue Remedy ... it's basically brandy, have a shot instead.  As you study the essences, you'll find they can be used for all sorts of ailments.  Bach used to send out a great booklet on all sorts of uses if you request one from them.  Sometimes, they even have them at the health food stores where Bach Essences are sold.  Good luck. Thanks guys! I read up on the Bach Flower Remedies and found it very interesting. I'm excited about getting started with it. I'm going to look for a good beginners book that can explain the uses for each flower essence and show me how to make remedies. Any recommendations? I see that alot of companies make the Bach Flower Essences. I wonder if some are made better (like essential oils) or if it doesn't matter which brand you use. If it's true, how do you pick a good one? :-/ Hmmm...Cassandra/Lotusgirl

Hi melb,Iam registered (it's seeming like right now though).  What happened is it was set to automatically log on once I entered the site and then.... upgraded my computer and I can not for remember what my log on info was  :-[ .  Too many user id and passwords required these day and of course I did not write or file this - I was sure I'd remember it  :.  My email address has changed so I'm not able to get a response for a reminder and can not figure out how to get this fixed.   Guess I will have to re register and start anew.  Shucks!! had info in there that I needed too   lotusgirl,There is only one Bach Flower company/manufacturer.  The information on the bach center web site gives all the history and information about Dr. Bach and the company which is located in the UK.  There is an official Bach location in the US and on the bachessences site you can get detailed info on each of the remedies, how to use them and even has a nifty feature where you can answer questions and the suited remedy/ies are suggested.  Learning about flower essences is very interesting.  There are other companies that make their own variety of flower essences as well, like a company named Perelandra for example.  I'm not sure but you can do a search to see if there is a web address for them also.  Enjoy.

Cassandra, are you interested for yourself or for your clients?  If you're planning to make remedies for clients, there is a certification class from Bach that I would recommend.  As an MT, it would probably be considered prescribing and outside of our scope otherwise.  Joe E.

Cassandra,    A Bach Flowers class was included in our massage school.  It was hard.  We had to memorize all the flowers and what they would help.  It's rather interesting.  You can get any of the bach flower books to explain what they are.      I use them quite frequently.  You only have to put a couple drops under your tongue.  Or you can add a couple drops to your drink.  Joe.....you are right, they do have brandy in them.  That is the preservative.....which keeps them fresh.      You can use Elm if you're overwhELMed.  It does help.  They are based on Bach's studying of the flowers and he learned that most people's problems are derived from emotional problems and the flowers could help that emotional problem.  It was quite interesting.  Also, there are more than one manufacture.  There is a manufacture in america.  I purchased that one.  In our class, our teacher taught us how to make our own if we wanted.  How to mix up a bottle for a client.  You can add up to 3 essences into one bottle.  I got some books on them......and the handouts.  There is a quiz you can take and based on the answers, it can tell you which flower essences you need.  Email me with your address and I'll send you one.  I use them for clients if they are interested.Jamie

Okay. Sounds cool...But how do I go about becoming certified? I am going to order some Bach flower essences so I can start experimenting in the meantime. Guess where I found them... in a massagewarehouse catalog! Cassandra,    You can get the oils at a health food store also.  They may be a little cheaper.  I spend $14.99 per bottle at our health food store.  But they last a pretty long time, depending on how much you use them.  One book our teacher recommended was.........well, can't find it.  I may be at my office.  I'll check tomorrow.

Bach Flower Therapy

I started using a rescue remedy a couple weeks ago and I must say it's really gotten me through some stressful situations recently. I also bought a great book by Donna Cunningham called the Flower Remedies Handbook-Emotional Healing and Growth with Bach and Other Flower Essences. There's alot to learn! I use the rescue remedy for my dogs during a thunder/lightening storm.  It works. Your welcome.  I wish you had been able to take the Bach Flowers course/ essential oils class from our school.  The owner taught the class and she is terrific.  She recommended a book to help you memorize the individual flowers essences.  It's called "How to Remember Bach Flower Remedies" by Joyce Petrak, DCH.It's got cartoons in it that help you to remember the problem a person has that, so you can prescribe the certain Bach flower remedy that will help that problem.  Like "Heather" is for people who are constantly talking about themselves.  Our teacher also commented that we could "slip" a few drops of the remedy that our signficant other might need.  Unfortunately, I was never able to do that.  And then my significant other said he had no problems.

I use the Rescue Remedy cream on clients feet before a treatment. My Reflexology instructor swore bythe stuff and bought it by the case. I have found clients respond well to it and it is very helpful in healing cracked feet as well.

Thanks for the info.  How much of the cream do you use?How does it work with a Reflexology treatment?  Does it cause the skin to be too slippery to work?

I use about a pea size per foot, maybe a little more for bigger feet. I just rub it in, it is not greasy. Then I get out my cornstarch or not depending on the client.

Bach Flower Therapy

I took a four week Bach Flower class. It kicked my butt! We were all given a specialized blend based on our own circumstances and emotional states. I think I cried all four weeks. It was an interesting experience. Now, I stick with using Rescue Remedy when I'm feeling on the edge. There are other brands out there offering other flower essences. I have an instructor who swears by Desert Alchemy. Her reasoning is that we live in the desert (Arizona) so we should use plants native to the area.
