Annoying flower sellers

A good number of years ago the police did take action against young kids being used down Bangla.They almost stamped the whole Faganistic thing dead.For a long while only adult vendors were seen in Bangla.:arf:

Childwatch Phuket was active in helping with this and bar owners were asked to report any vunerable child.I know one bar owner who used to have one of his female staff detain the kid and he would summon the police.:yes:

We caught the "blind guy" out years ago and he is not allowed to come near my bar.:diablo:

Still maintain however that its frang patronage of these kids/beggers etc that perpetuate/encourage the problem - 20 Baht from 7 guys with your way of thinking and that minimum adult wage sorted ... and most will hardly stop there. Yes, I have great sympathy for the kids - but help perpetuate this kind of exploitation, sorry .. NO!

Was in a bar Hua Hin recently and saw a a good Thai cover band with 2 girls and 1 guy.

Towards the end of the night the guy put on a big set of sun glasses and with his arm stretched out and hand on one of the girls shoulder,started to walk around behind her and through the audience with a wireless microphone singing the Stevie Wonder song "I Just Called To Say i Love You".

The girl had the tip bucket and was stopping at the tables looking for tips with him in tow....55555

Very funny and a good p1ss take i thought.....was happy to throw in 50,as they were quite good and the girls were kinda cute too.

Funny- yet another thing the MiB should enforce but the chances are................. Nil. Yes they are annoying but it isn't an excuse to be rude to them, most accept a polite no in my experience and in time they get to recognise you anyway. I agree with Denver- if this is the biggest worry in someone's life they need to get one! (if thats what he wanted to think of course55555555555)

certainly in tourist areas of phuket you do not see any flower sellers, distressed mothers or limbless people who are not part of a 'scam' as you would have it (i wouldn't call it that but thats by the by) - they are all organised and sanctioned otherwise they wouldn't be there

'scam' or 'genuine' beggar they still need the money IMHO and both will ask / target farangs more / exclusively for the simple reason they are more likely to get more coin - and why not?

(as to MTB IMHO with all due respect i do not think visiting the bar is or should be a prerequisite to post)

I`m sure its some sort of franchise setup.
Every area i`ve been to in LOS has one,but not 2??.. .that i`ve seen anyway.
Always see the same two every day at my arvo drink bar and at various other places around the island.
Gets a bit annoying as the PA they have drowns out all conversation.
And they remember who has donated before and just stand there next to you until they`ve had enough.

Anyway, to me they aren't annoying! My car breaking down in the middle of fcuking nowhere is annoying! That's just me!

If the a-holes who sit at the bar running up 5K bar bills (Not so annoying to Bar Owners Those types are they?) flipping these kids off without even having the 'human' curtesy to just say a polite 'No Thank You' that get me a tad pee'd off!

I've never had one kid say "Fcuk you then!" back either! They say thank you and go on thier way.........Really annoying that!!!!

If these kids didn't earn what little crust they do by selling whatever it is they can, flowers, ciggies, lighters, chewing gum etc What would they have?

Yes, I am well aware these kids are probably being run by a local mobster etc But no Farang I know has the balls nor a single MIB willing to lose his 'Cut' is going to anything about it are they? The Government.....What Government?

I am guessing the kids are happy with a little % of something than the square root of fcuk all at the end of the day.

OK, so we try not to perpetuate the situation, what is the solution? How do you suggest they survive!

Its not the fact that any long term poster doesnt go to any bars or clubs that other bm's hang out in. What I feel is strange is that someone who posts so frequently, like Thaicam does, doesnt want to meet some of the people he is talking to in all but an oral fashion.

I know, if I had a chance I would like to meet the people who I 'speak' with most days. Be it over a coke or a beer!

You do need to be a bit wary of the kids sadly. One around Patong a couple of years ago selling chewing gum had been taught to pickpocket. He would rest one arm on your leg giving you his sales patter while his other hand was heading into your pocket. I don't blame the kids...it's the parents.
