You are a funny guy! We can't post in that thread.

At first glance, I like the idea of topping off at 10 000.
However, as old stale members drop off, there will be room for new blood.
How about allowing new members if they are referred by an old member?
Not sure how this could be worked out logistically, but I'm sure there's a way.
Something along these lines: When a new member applies, they must provide their sponsor/referring member's handle in their application. It can then be verified with that member if they referred someone to join or not. Once that's done, they're in.

We would like to make it back to a community where members used to post and share ideas. Now we have thousands of members and not too many reviews.
I want to close the forum so in our closed community , girls can share their photos and videos without worrying about LE or journalists .... i will filter them out.
I would like to eventually make it a sold 5000 members ( yep cut the lurkers out of the site) .... also we will just accept the sponsors who are really worth
representing.. We would like to have a community of great clients and great salons. Down the road if come cross of any salon worthy of being in MM then we will add them to MM.
I find our site is too commercial and it has never intended to be commercial when it was created in 2003. Let's go back to the way we all used to post and enjoy being in MM.
So as of Jan 2012 we will eliminate the sponsors and members who are not belong to MM.
what do you think?

for example, Mr. rock .. I remember he was very active till our site got huge and way too commercial. Most members don't post cuz the owner/masseuses give them shit for posting the reviews on them.
the reviews good/bad it just an opinion of the client based on his experience .. if he is going to be under fire for what he posted .. sure he won't post and rather to be a lurker

I find our site is too commercial and it has never intended to be commercial when it was created in 2003. Let's go back to the way we all used to post and enjoy being in MM.
So as of Jan 2012 we will eliminate the sponsors and members who are not belong to MM.

I'm quite new here. I don't really know what was the purpose of it in the beginning. Anyway, should be a little bit commercial, no? The girls and sponsor pay to be here... Of course, it's pretty less expensive than newspaper and I saw in an other thread that the site is looked by thousands/month. It's seem to be fair for both the sponsors ans the customers.
I'll let you decide!

I am completely in agreement with this move.Why have members who don't share ?I believe we have about 75% of the members here who don't make an effort to review.Maybe just a post every now and then.Its always the same members posting and reviewing and its not fair to them when lurkers come on and take all the info.We don,t need lurkers or members who don't make an effort to share.I have been talking about this also for awhile now,No reviews or posts at least every one to two months then you are GONE.

Good and bad idea?? I 'm for and will support any decisions that will help improve the flow of information.

As a stale? member from way back to Canbest days..and some 2 MM , I still post when the info serves its purpose and was not redundent..

But IMHO the fault lays in the fact that the inexperienced hobbists used and bragged about their status and their handles on MM to the MP.s to obtain favors not merited!! based on info deciphered on MM..Maybe we could use different rotating code numberhandles on each post,( with privieges)to confuse the hell out of everyone! At the same time the MP 's would not know who you are. Spy stuff.. lol

I love [sexy] this hobby and will continue to support if allowed?

i just think that it's a great thing to be able to post reviews without having to deal with some unhappy people being reviewed.
and this kind of confirmation, coming from you, is a good thing to read.

How true! Someone must take on the role of chastising those who make reviewers feel bad because of flaming comments and shilling accusations.

As for the number of reviews required from every member, one (1) a year should be enough. Imagine 5000 members contributing a yearly review: that's 5000/52 = 96 every week. That's a lot to read. Agreed, you don't have to read them all. But that's plenty to keep the board alive and well.

Keeping LE and journalists out??? I wonder how it could be done. They certainly pretend to be and act like ordinary guys, don't they? I think we will forever need to be cautious.

I think new members are a bonus to the forum. But I do agree Lurkers feed off the hard work of writers. I think anyone can join but their membership should probationary. Like they would have to post two or three reviews within a month. I think we can easily filter out nonsense posts such as "where do they work now" or other questions for their first three posts. Might be more work for Admin, but it sure would allow a chance for new members to show their worth. I don't know if a " 30 day timer" could be put in place on new members?

As far as Sponsors are concerned. I do believe they can be limited to only posting in CS News and not allow them to post comments in any other topics. That would certainly stop any back lash from them because of negative experiences expressed by writers.

Eliminating Sponsors because they don't "fit" the "idea" of MM I'm not keen on. I do believe there are all kinds of hobbyists out there all looking for a salon for their various needs and over the years MM has become a pretty good one stop search for the best or worse Montreal has to offer. In the end I don't think Sponsors really effect the "community" when it comes to the "Forum". I do believe that "Lurkers" in general and stupid one off writers do.

I do think keeping some topics (CS NEWS, SALONS for Sale, etc) be kept public without the need for membership. This would satisfy those who are only interested in the list of Sponsors and the basic info like found in a newspaper.

Kojak... I should be minding my own business, take whatever I wrote with a grain of salt. Whatever the decision is I'll be fine with it. I do remember when the forum was much smaller it was much more manageable and a lot more fun.

Right on! A sponsor needs all the exposure he can get. I agree that a "closed" community of "selected" member will be a terrific potential for a sponsor but if you add the public exposure on top of that, then it's better than good.

As for members, been on a closed board would allow reviewing in more details instead of using PM to share on a 1 to 1 basis. In that way, all will be able to profit from those info and will undoubtedly be more inclined to share their experience.

As a founder of MM , I always consult and get feed back from members before I do any changes to MM. The number of our sponsors growing every year without any regulation.
I will to post a list of salons who are interested in sponsorship program for you guys to vote before accepting them. This way the salons will try to give a better service so they would be approved by members.
MM is designed for members first and it has never been intended to be commercial. We will survive with just a handful of salons. I will also dedicate a designated sections for them to post their opinion and concerns.

Kam is trying to revitalize the board and I'm glad of that. I don't know the best way to do it, so I trust you Kam and am willing to go along with the experiment. I'm not sure closing the board to new members is a magic solution, but I'm happy to see us try that.

Sponsors: sometimes it's fun to interact with them and their CS posts provide useful information. But I really like the idea on voting for them, so we can eliminate some of the annoying ones. Limiting their posts to the CS sections might help too. Maybe members could be allowed to ask direct questions in the CS sections, so we can have some kind of back and forth, but keep sponsors out of the review sections?

Muddy is right. We used to have such a glamorous board with valuable reviews and substance. Now all I can see is quantity over quality.
This will end soon. No more freebies, no more lurking and no more BS. As most of you know Money has never been an issue in MM.
We will choose the salons who are really giving a great service and promote them here. The salons that appreciate us will get the most of our business.
On the other hand the salons that take us for a ride will be exposed and will be black listed on the main page.
Also it goes for the clients who are the black face of our hobby. Them also will be black listed and banned for good.
Now what are the benefits of closing the board to only our members? Well I have gathered a huge resources of data, images and movies in the past 15 years.
Some of these info has never been shown to anyone, which will be on our showroom for certain members whom post sufficient enough.
I will choose the first 20 members of our brand new group called "Elite" . There you will find videos, Pictures and info that I kept secret from all.
Also there are lots of masseuses willing to share their info and their private pix and videos to a certain private group " Elite"
Furthermore After closing the board to new members, joining MM will be challenge for those who really want to be a part of MM.
They have to email me their first review and thereafter they are obliged to have 1 review every three months for a total of 4 reviews per year.
If there are newbies they better go to other boards, which we will post their address on our first page so they can find it easily.
There are lots of details on implementing all these which currently I am working on.
