There are about 14m people in Ontario. There have been almost 400k cases. Just under 3% of the Ontario population have contracted Covid so far. The death rate in Ontario is about 1.9% but that is skewed to the elderly. So, nobody is dying en masse in the adult service world since most never got Covid.

Oh, and this is their job that is also their secret life. Even if there were any deaths at all, do you really think it would be widely publicized here? No, it would be kept quiet.

But the variants of concern are relatively new, they are becoming predominant and more younger adults are being infected and hospitalized with them.

So, what might have been a safe and general assumption 3 months ago when it was all the first variant cases is not necessarily the same situation we are in today. We don’t have enough data with the new variants yet to definitively make that claim.

Also, the vaccination roll-out plan targeted the elderly first. So, more younger people being admitted to hospitals might not just be a reflection of how much more severe the variants are but also that the vaccine is effective and the elder are now more protected and they are avoiding being hospitalized.
