What extras do you pick when buying a new car?.

I bought a new car 2 months ago. It was last year's model so got a nice discount. Salesman trying to sell me x y z. Scotch guard, gps etc. After a month driving I found out the best feature was what came with the car. The beep beep noice it makes when you reverse if an object or someone is near the car.

Think I wasted my money on the other features but happy I do not have to worry to hit anyone when I back up.

What other new features you Johns find is a necessity not a luxury and what new and funk features you dudes have?

The only extra that might be worth a shit the extended warranty depending on the vehicle and never at the time of purchase

Leav'um alone. Sometimes the Freudian slippers are just hilarious.

I bought an extended warranty for the first time with my last car; it includes 10 oil changes; note I didn't say free. With the two serious tire blowouts I've had in the last two year, I'm now breaking even with free tow, rentals and tire replacements alone. I so hate donut spare tires.

It doesn't always make sense and you really have to look at the small print of the warranty.

What Pappy said is true- many after market enhancements can be much easier on the pocket book. (And even more so if you do some homework!) I found this out myself, when I bought some enhancements for my TRUCK! :great:

I'm thinking you guys must be living in the past a bit when you talk about things like IPOD docking being an option. I do a fair bit of travelling (25,000 km /year) beause I have two plants about 500 km apart so I try to get a pretty decent 4 wheel drive car like an Audi Quattro or a Mercedes 4Matic. Most of the electronic stuff is standard ( I regard bluetooth and satelite radio as necessities) as is leather, sunroof, heated seats etc. I pass on the GPS and rust proofing and I really pass on the extended warranty which is just a downright scam.

GPS is a $2,000 option vs $200 at Best Buy for a portable - hell its in your IPhone or Blackberry as well. Haven't had a car that rusted for 15 years.
