WALKING TOURS IN MAY

The number of walking tours in May will be reduced compaired to April. I have to go to Nicaragua the week of May 12-May 17. I do not plan on doing anymore tours on Saturdays; the streets are just too crowded and there are too many Ticos in the MPs on Saturdays.

Also, for those going on tours and anyone interested in going PLEASE READ:

No sandals or flip flops.
No jewelry or anything else of value that could be grabbed from you easily
Do not carry a lot of money with you, and carry your wallet in your front pocket
Please try to dress conseratively
Please try to stay together, and when we are on the streets, pay atention to what is going on around us
Because many of the people going on the tours want to see some of the really LOW END places, we must walk down a couple of streets that some consider to be of questionable safety. As long as we all follow the above, there should be no problems. But anytime there is a large group of Gringos walking, we will attract some attention.
The rainy season is starting, and therefore we may get rained on. If you have an unbrella, bring it; if not there are usually a lot of places to buy one cheaply ($3).
The tours last usually around 3 1/2 -4 hours and involve a lot of walking (6-7 miles)for the full tour.
There are places along the way to buy something to drank, but you might want to bring a bottle of water
I include infomation about other sites along the walk; churches, parks, night clubs, shopping areas, etc. We usually walk thru the Meracado Central.

These are mostly just common sense things for here, and any other large city, when walking in crowed areas. I am not trying to scare anyone, just want everone to be safe and have a good time on the tours.

I totally agree on your tips. Being cautious is the best measure. Whenever I go to San Jose I just walk around with just a tshirt, jeans and no accessories and don't feel threatened. If anyone has one of those secret wallets that you carry inside your pants that will be your best bet to carry your money.

I look forward to it. It will be a great time.

No problem Bang! I think I can find some of the places that you showed me last month. I am bringing a new wingman from Minnesota and he was excited to take the tour. I will keep you posted on my progress. Keep up the good work!
