things to do in Shanghai other than mongering?

Will knock your socks off. There is a small model of the city when you walk in, and then further in there is a huge 1/100 model of Shanghai that is like no model I have ever seen. (North-East corner of peoples square)
Shooting fireworks off the bund is cool, but the best thing to do in China, is just walk.
Get a card of the hotel and the address where you are staying, and then just pick a direction and walk, walk, walk. The neighborhoods change so fast, you'll find markets, old people playing cards, chaos, Uigers grilling lamb, and many massage parlors. Just walk.

There is quite a bit to do

National Museum - Pretty cool although the Jade exhibit has been closed for 6 months and will not open for another 6 months. They have traveling exhibits and a lot great stone carvings, silk, wood furniture and other artifacts

Yu Yuan Bizare - Don't go on a weekend pretty touristy but the Gardens are cool.

Old Temple - I think thats whats it called it right donw the street form the Yu Yuan Bizare

Jade Buddha Temple- Very cool if your into it with some great Jade and wood carvings including the Oldest Jade buddha in Shnaghai. I believe it is also tyhe only functioning Buddist temple in Shnaghai

Bund - Can be cool to walk around I reccomend going right at Sunset so you can see it in the daylight then see the specticle of the lights at night. Beware the girls who want to practice their english on you!

Reminin Gardens- Cool to see.

Then as others said when you venture out of the city there are some beatifull water cities you can catch a train to. Make it an all day trip if you do. I don't really do Karaoke but it is everywhere and can be fun way to waste an evening if you're with people who are into it. Depending where you go its like mongering light where you pick a girl for the evening and talk then can take her home at the end. There is at least one that is like a strip club where at some point in the night they do a little lap dance and take their tops off and they play some games etc. At this place having your hands under her shirt all night is just fine at they usually do the same but no FS or anything at the club.

Hope this helps. Once you've done these post again and there are other things to do but not as popular as above.

I went to the Hwa Huang Water Village somewhere 40 minutes west of Shanghai, it was a pretty cool tourist spot but the bad thing about it was the stupid tour guide did not give us enough time to take pictures...it's a beautiful village with water canals and souvenir shops.

There are several water towns in the area. Went to this one called Zhujiajiao with my tour group. The 1st modern post office in China opened here. Other than having that small town feel there are a lot of souvenir shops, but when we went it was not crawling with tourists. I thought it was worth a visit, but the other 5 people on my tour thought it was a waste of time.

It depends what you're into. Shanghai has a very international feel to it, there's that history obviously, but there are also more foreigners working there. I was in Shanghai for a couple days and got action from the massage places right around the corner from my hotel. But that aside I would definitely go back as there's a lot to see otherwise and it's a big city. Went to the Shanghai Museum, Xintiandi, Old City, where I visited the Yuyuan Gardens, and crossed the Huangpu River one night to get drinks at the tallest building in the city. There's a street where you can browse for antiques and also high end shopping the downtown area. There also what are called water towns nearby that can be seen in a day trip.
