Actually i was wondering how that phrase came about... A couple of weeks ago i was looking for a football jersey (soccer) in Patong and when i asked about the price of one, the lady turned and quoted me a price, 550bht... I couldn't believe it... I had just bought a football jersey in Bangkok for 120bht. So i told her i'd give her at most 200bht for the jersey. She looked at me funny "as if" sort of look and called me a Cheap Charlie... I was shocked... That was a term i used to call my customers at the bar i used to work in in Melbourne when they didn't tip well, but to hear it coming from a thai shop keeper. Now that was new... I wonder where they got that term/pharse... I doubt the regular tourist off the street will call the shop keepers a cheap charlie... Unless we start selling them stuf:what:
