Can you explain how it's insurance fraud? If he receives a massage and is billed for that time and passes it on to the insurance company there shouldn't be an issue. What happens after the message, is paid separatly and not claimed as an expense there is no fraud.
I don't have benefits/self employed / so just curious

That was around two years ago, (And I believe he was an established contributor.) Some ladies offer to make out the receipt to include tip. Some offer to postdate the massage for the next year. The most common deception is that at a 'therapeutic' location, only one or two masseuses (sometimes none,excepting someone the owner knows who is never at this location ) can actually issue receipts. So they have a managed system where clients who want a receipt get it with another therapist's name and number on it (not the one who gave the massage). This does NOT mean that the masseuse who gave the massage is not good, just that she does not have a formal massage therapist association accreditation at that time. In fact, my absolute top therapeutic masseuse in Calgary (I see her after every strenuous workout) is in that position. Does she know massage? Better than ten 2200 hrs masseuses combined. In the first 15 minutes of a 90 minutes massage she does more work than most masseuses do in 60 minutes. But her English is not good enough to get the local massage school certifications. In my books, I see nothing fraudulent in this situation that the owner issues receipts in another therapist's name. Sharing this to show that there are many sides to all situations. On the other hand outright cheaters of the system should probably be shut off.

I'm guilty of this to a point as I don't know what therapists real names are (In most cases). In one case, I found out the therapist only had 500 hours and likewise it couldn't have been her name on past receipts. Thus, the next time she offered a receipt, I refused. And also tried avoiding her in future visits.

Providing a certified service under someone else's name would be viewed as fraud from the insurance companies and your claim would be denied, that is IF they find could out. Just an FYI, I was getting a massge from Betty, I know, she took a call during the massage, I know , it was an insurance company asking her to check her receipts for a claim someone made, they were auditing a claim. So they tend to check on us, and hopefully all is good. I too have gotten receipts for massge and pretty sure it wasn't the name of the lady who provided the service. Well run shops, with good owners/managers make sure that they run well organized schedules for the receipts they give out. They manage, how many per day against a registered RMT, and proper records. I only claim the receipts from the places that I have 100% faith in, knowing that the records are bulletproof. The rest are shredded or I tell them not to bother giving me one.

If it happens as you say, then you're right, there is no fraud. The fraud would be IF someone tries to put thru the extras on their claim.

i would not condone fraud under any circumstances, but if you look up fraud in a law book or dictionary...you will see the names of insurance companies...great west life and manufacturers life at the top of the list...

That cant be true. Insurance companies, banks, and governments are all service industries which make no profit what so ever, and give back to the people they serve.
