I'm so very tired of washing sheets.  Does anyone use a laundry service?  If so, how did you find them?  What is your average monthly expenditure?  Are they reliable?Thanks!

Hi Intuitouch.  I saw a link about this in business and marketing...I don't know if you've seen it.  I don't have a laundramat anywhere near me.  Drat.  I'm stuck doing tons of laundry.  It's my second job.

I take my own sheets to the laundramat and it's tiring!  I occasionally have them clean the sheets but they charge double what I normally pay to wash myself at the same place!

When I worked out of my home I laundered my own sheets and it was never ending...seemed to take so much time and I hated folding them.  When I moved into an office I started dropping them off at the laundry mat.  It's so much easier.But check around for prices.  For about a year I paid $1 per pound, business rate for the laundry mat on my way home.  I recently moved and now go to one by my house that charges me .65 cents per pound...a huge savings.  I went from spending about $35 per week to about $20.  Of course this varies depending upon my client load.  They wash, dry and fold everything.  And this new one even asked how hot I'd like the water, any special detergent or fabric softeners.  The previous just did the basics.  I figure the $20 per week is easier than worrying if I have enough clean linens and it takes me just 5 minutes instead of hours.  Plus, it's a tax write off.  I'd definately recommend using a similar service if you feel like your freetime is ruled by your laundry duties.

Thanks everyone.  I'm not certain the town I'm in has a laundramat that offers the wash and fold service but I'll check that out.  I did stop by my local dry cleaners to see if they offered anything and they wanted to charge me $3/set.  Yikes!  I can't afford that.    I did look up laundry services in the yellow pages and found one that isn't to far away.  I've a phone call in to them to find out pricing.  I'll post that info once I speak with them.  I appreciate everyone's info.

Our school used a linen service and it cost 1.10 for a set. (2 flats and a pillow case) I woul dlove to be able to do that at some point.

I use a laundry service and I love it.  It costs me $105 to $140 per month depending on case load.  I never worry  about having clean sheets.  They are bright, clean and crisp for every client.  I checked into having my own sheets laundered.  Having them picked up and delivered to me is worth the extra cost.  I couldn't and wouldn't go back.

Just a tip:

Our office is within 5 miles of a very hispanic area of town. If you are open minded enough to walk into a place where you do a little broken spanish and a little broken english, usually you can get a nice rate on wash and fold and everyone comes out happy. I recently found a place that is $.89 per pound. That's right 89 cents per pound to wash and fold!

Of course, I haven't felt the final kick in my patootie to get my sheets done there yet... but it is on my list for when I get tired of doing it myself!

Here's another idea. Some people of retired age would love to do a trade for certain limited work - maybe they already have a part time job & collect social security (therefore are not allowed to earn any more income), but still can't afford the luxuries of facials or massage, etc. You could pay them X amount in trade value for each laundry load. Even if they don't come for weekly massages, etc, they might love giving gift certificates for your services as holiday gifts, etc.
