Casa Portugueza and Safer Route into Calle 6

I created a map and photo slide show showing walking route between Morazan park to Calle 6.

I would like to address two points, first the Casa Portugueza (Portuguesa) is actually a brand new building where you can ocassionally find some talent.

The second point is Calle 6 is not that difficult as long as you walk into it from Avenue 3. There are some really bad routes you can take through the Dominican Territory or through the congestion of the Burbon or Central Markets.

In my opinion the route map link on the above webpage shows the best way in.

The best way into the calle 6 area is to walk west down ave central to the central market , turn right and walk 3 blocks. That way you minimize your time in questionable areas.

If you are a newbie and you just want to go to Calle 6 the advice to take Ave 3 or Central within the time frames specified in tht website is good advice.

For those with more experience and with a moderate amount of spanish, let me share what Bang and I normally do: From Morazon Park, we pass Europa/Marreucos/Muses/the Dungeon on the way out there, which brings us along Ave 7 at the start. Around Calle Central or Calle 2 we turn south to Ave 5 and then head west to Calle 6. Situational awareness of course, is always required. Never engage anyone on the street in a conversation.

La Portugeza had some fresh new talent last weekend. Definitely worth a look I have sessioned in the place next door for 5000 colones. Some of the girls there are really hot. Bang says he had a problem with being charged a GRINGO price of 8000 a few weeks ago, but as always, YMMV. I think if you just walk up to a girl and say VAMOS, walk with her down the hallway to where she takes your money, and have a 5k note in your hand ready, you shouldn't have any problems.

If you go down Ave 3, stay on the left ( south ) side of the street. The north side is where the buss stops are. You will run into lots of pick pockets. Bring your own girl. $4 for the room.

I'm wondering what kind of site you've got there. The other links (girls' names, Tica cams, etc) look interesting, but the links are dead. Is the site still under construction?

I just made an informational site with some advertising. For now the models are just eye candy, some pictures I took a few years ago.

Macky: The webcam links would only appear dead if your IP address is in Costa Rica. They work fine everywhere else in the world.

I am working on more pages with maps and directions to everything in San Jose. I also have some pictures of real working girls, and interiors of the places where I have received permission.

Otherwise, I agree with Seahawk's point, stay on the left side of Avenida 3 in order to avoid the bus lines.

I disagree.

Avenida 3 is better than Central Avenue because you avoid two blocks on Calle 6 from Central Avenue.

Avenida 3 is pretty safe in the daytime, especially around the Central Post Office at the intersection of Calle 2. It's also pretty common to see a pair of Fuerza Publica right there. I know this because I have gone to that post office 2-3 times a week for 2 years now.

Not be a jerk but it is actually 12 AM.. :wink: :wink: , but when not busy they do tend to close early quite often

Thanks. I will correct that. Now a days I usually go around 4-5pm to IDEM, and when I discovered the place 6 years ago everyone used to tell me they would close early.

I guess that's why they charge more now. :-( Pay for the extra shift.

Report on Wanderings

ONE REPORTER'S OPINION: Report on my wanderings of Saturday, 29 March.

Midmorning stopped in to La Mansion for a visit. There were three chicas ready for clients – attractive and friendly girls. FUN!

Later that afternoon I went into the Casa Portugueza (around 2:00 P.M.). The hallway leading into the reception area was shoulder to shoulder Ticos and Nicas, not one Gringo in sight. If there was a Gringo there, he blended in very well. There were only three chicas available and there were ample and obvious reasons why they were not otherwise engaged.

Then I walked into the two places just south of Casa Portugueza. They were essentially the same as Casa Portugueza: wall to wall guys ogling and waiting. For some reason, in one of the places, the natives did not enter the open reception area but remained in the hallway. At first impression, it looked as though there was going to be a stage show à la the old Park Hotel or those famed shows in old Tijuana. But alas, no show!

Then I walked up to Calle 3 and popped into Eurpoa 2000. Two rooms were occupied and those who remained were most unfortunate looking service providers.

All in all, Saturday afternoon does not seem like a good time to visit the low rent district of the upper west side of the Gulch.
